Building San Antonio’s Future: Meet Maggie Ortiz

A native of San Antonio, Maggie Ortiz is passionate about contributing to the city’s growth through her role at The Bank of San Antonio. As Senior Vice President, Commercial & Real Estate Relationship Manager, Maggie serves her clients as a commercial banker and real estate lender and is inspired by the opportunity to help foster growth for San Antonio businesses. She shares about her career background and the cultural values of the bank that drive her, and her work outside of the bank serving the San Antonio community.
Banking has always been a passion of mine. I worked as a full-time teller at a small credit union while in college. Upon receiving my BBA in Finance from St. Mary’s University, I landed my first job at a local bank here in San Antonio as a Credit Analyst. I worked my way up relatively quickly and became a commercial lender in early 2001, and have been in commercial lending ever since—primarily in Commercial Banking and Real Estate.
I have primarily been a commercial banker and real estate lender and love serving my clients by helping them foster and grow their businesses. I love the ability to be a trusted partner as they are building their legacy.
I am a mother of two children: Cristian who is 13 and Alessandra who is 8. They both are active in soccer and play for a local club and that really takes up most of our time. We are at the soccer fields four nights a week with games or tournaments on the weekends. That keeps us pretty busy. I’m also a big foodie who loves to try new restaurants.
Having grown up in San Antonio, it excites me to be a part of all the local development by using my skillset and knowledge to help clients achieve success. We are such a vibrant and cultural city, and knowing that as relationship bankers we get to be involved in the process and leave a tiny mark in various projects throughout San Antonio is such an exciting and comforting sentiment. I am passionate about this city and want to see it achieve its full potential as the world-class city that I know it is.
